TIME: Tuesdays 6:30-8:30pm (final class will be 6:30-9:30)
INSTRUCTOR: Amy Weldon
COST: $85 ($75 if registered before May 15)
This course will explore ways to mine your own experience, memories, observations, and emotions for the material of fiction and creative nonfiction. We’ll engage the basic elements of working in these genres (sensory detail, plot, dialogue, character, conflict, place) and explore the line between fiction and memoir in a series of readings, in-class exercises, and friendly small-group discussions. Ultimately, we will craft our own short stories or creative nonfiction essays, workshop them in our friendly small-group setting, and read them aloud on the final night of the course.
