IMPROVISATION

DATE: January 7-February 11
TIME: Wednesdays 6:00-7:00 pm

Awaken your sleeping creativity! Through structured games and the power of saying “yes,” discover the joy of your own imagination. No need to see yourself as “funny” – this class provides a fun and supportive environment for anyone willing to jump in!

ADVANCED IMPROV

DATE: January 7-February 11
TIME: Wednesdays 7:15-8:30

PREREQUISITE: Improv or instructor’s ok

This class will build on the exercises explored in last fall’s fabulous foray into the imagination, releasing the blocks we carry or create that separate us from our inherent creativity.

UPSTART CROW PRODUCTION: “DRIFTLESS DREAMS” BY ROBERT WOLF

DATE: January 6-February 8
REHEARSAL TIME: Tuesdays 6:00-8:00 pm, Saturdays 10:00 am–noon
PERFORMANCES: February 7 & 8
DIRECTOR: Kristen Underwood
COST: Adults volunteer, teens pay $90 tuition

A cast of adults and teens will work with director Kristen Underwood and author Bob Wolf to create an original theatre production, celebrating the stories of our region. No acting experience required.

WRITING ABOUT YOUR LIFE

DATE: February 10-March 24 (no class March 10)
TIME: Tuesdays 6:30-8:30 pm
INSTRUCTOR: Amy Weldon
COST: $75

Got personal stories to tell but not sure where to start? Come explore the basics of creative non-fiction writing in a friendly, supportive, but rigorous group that will have you reading outstanding personal essays, writing drafts of your own, then workshopping them with other readers. Moving from basic techniques for getting words on a page, to prompts for unlocking memories and shaping stories, this course will encourage and inspire you no matter what your previous experience.

TRADITIONAL EUROPEAN FOLK DANCING

DATE: February 18-March 25
TIME: Wednesdays 7:00-9:00 pm
INSTRUCTOR: Pine Wilson
COST: $55

What a great way to move your body and warm up on a winter’s night! Pine Wilson will lead you on a tour of the traditional folk dances of Greece, Romania, Serbia, Bulgaria, Macedonia, Israel, France, and more. Beginners welcome; no partners needed! Refreshments from countries visited at each class.

PILATES

     SPRING II: April 8-May 13
TIME: Wednesdays 9:00-10:00 am
INSTRUCTOR: Karen Berland
COST: $55

Pilates floor exercises concentrate on development of core strength, flexibility, and mind-body awareness. Pilates practitioners report that their bodies become stronger, longer, leaner, and more able to move through their daily lives with grace and ease. Bring your own mat and see for yourself! Karen is an SCW Certified Pilates instructor.

MOVEMENT: DANCES FOR LIVING IN THE BODY

DATE: April 7-May 12
TIME: Tuesdays 7:00-8:30
INSTRUCTOR: Hannah McCargar
COST: $60

This class is open to new and continuing students and anyone who wishes to explore the moving self. Drawing from imagery, movement phrases and improvisation, we will work to cultivate increased awareness in our bodies and movement - whether we’re “dancing” or simply moving through our daily lives. No previous experience needed!
