Art for a Cause Workshop: April

DATE: Sunday, April 11
TIME: 6:15-8:15pm
COST: FREE
LOCATION: Dayton House

This month, in commemoration of the second anniversary of the Postville raid, ArtHaus invites all members of the Decorah, Postville, and surrounding communities to reflect upon their experiences and memories involving the raid by designing individual pieces of artwork on fabric to be collected and sewn together into a large artwork. These creative pieces may include journal remembrances (which will be transferred onto fabric), drawn or painted images, embroidery or anything that best represents the workshop participant’s individual experience. ArtHaus will supply all necessary materials. After the workshop, Rachelle Branum, local fiber artist and ArtHaus instructor, will sew the unique fabric pieces together into a quilt-like wall hanging that will portray the countless stories of that day. The finished work will be presented at Luther College during the Chapel service on May 12, and will be exhibited at ArtHaus from May 15 - June 5.
