Our Adult Visual Art Programs offer many ways for adults to revive and nurture their creative spirit. All skill levels welcome! Adult classes and workshops are open to students age 16 and above.

DRAWING AND PAINTING IN THE FIELD: Explore The Landscape of the Oneota Valley En Plein Air
DATE: June 15-July 20
TIME: Mondays 6:00-8:30 pm
INSTRUCTOR: Rachelle Branum
COST: $60 + $30 materials fee
After a long winter, spend some quality time outdoors! This 6-week exploration of Claude Monet and techniques for capturing impressions of the landscape will leave you with a meaningful collection of artworks that capture light and color in a way that no indoor painting can. Each session will take place in a different location as we develop skills to transform 3-D outdoor experiences onto a lasting 2-D surface. Join us in a visual celebration of the beauty of Northeast Iowa. All skill levels will be appropriately challenged.

A GEM OF A GAL : Translate Your Inner-Self into a Braclet with Sarah Magner

Did you know jewelry is not only an adornment to your wardrobe but can also reflect your inner self? Spend an evening with local designer and gem enthusiast, Sarah Magner, learn about the significance and meaning of various gemstones and choose a combination to create one of Sarah’s signature tangle bracelets of your own. Mothers and Daughters (ages 8-up) welcome!

IRON AND FIRE: Casting Medallions
DATE: Wednesday, June 24

LOCATION: Ron Ludeking Farm, 1421 200th Street, Decorah
COST: $45 (materials included)
Kelly Ludeking is a Decorah native, metal artist and sculptor now living in the Minneapolis area. We are thrilled to welcome him home and offer you an opportunity to experience an iron pour on his family farm. Learn the metal casting process during this evening workshop and create your own medallions. Then, if you can, come back with your friends and family on Saturday, June 27 at 4:00pm to watch the iron pour in process. On Sunday afternoon, pick up your finished artwork-- one that will last for generations.

ART FOR A CAUSE: Be Creative and Make a Difference
DATE: Sunday, June 28
TIME: 6:30-8:30pm
COST: $5 suggested donation
Ages 14 and up
Are you looking for a creative outlet but also want to make a difference both locally and globally? We hope that this is the first "creative activism" workshop of many! Learn about similar organizations helping people internationally such as Project Linus, Mama to Mama, and Dulaan Project, and try your hand at a sample creative project. We’ll brainstorm future hands-on projects that could make a positive impact on people locally (Decorah, Postville, etc.) and beyond. Join us and get artsy for a cause!
