CAPOEIRA FOR KIDS

DATE: September 13- October 25 (no class October 11)
AGE: 6-11*
TIME: Mondays 3:30-4:30pm

Capoeira is an Afro-Brazilian martial art that combines African dance with kicks, escapes, take-downs, and acrobatics. Always accompanied by live music, Capoeira is a fluid, creative, and improvisational form that teaches physical skills, a little Portuguese, and a healthy dose of African rhythm.

POETRY: READY, SET, WRITE

New and returning students alike are welcome to explore the spirit of the poem in this relaxed and hands-on class. Focusing on organic expression, students will be encouraged to give rise to their own voice, experiencing the rewards that tag along with creativity and free expression. Last spring's class produced an amazing collection of poetry, including song lyrics! Just bring a notebook and your imagination.

STAGING A TEN MINUTE PLAY

DATE: September 7-October 13
TIME: Tuesdays 3:30-5:30, Wednesdays 6:00-8:00
PERFORMANCE: Wednesday October 13, 7:00pm

INSTRUCTOR: Lindsey Harman

Join Director Lindsey Harman in staging two 10-Minute Plays, culminating in performances your friends and family are sure to remember! You'll have an opportunity to perform on-stage as well as to fulfill a back-stage theatre role, such as design, assistant directing, and stage management. We'll cast the shows, research them, learn acting technique, design, management and publicity, and then perform the last Wednesday of the class. This is a great opportunity to build your resume, to learn a ton, and to have FUN! Play titles will be based on participant registration.

Kindermusik Family Time brings children of all ages together for an integrated musical learning experience. So we took favorite Kindermusik songs and activities and rolled them into a fun, convenient family class where family together time is celebrated and cherished. Each activity is adapted to the developmental stages of the children in the class.

Kindermusik Our Time introduces your child to a musical world filled with singing, imitating sounds, rhyming, sound identification, instrument exploration, and creative movement. Toddlers are encouraged to be creative, to initiate their own ideas and to respond in their own ways, while caregivers' active participation in class gives them the security they need. As you play instruments, sing, move, and explore, you'll uncover an engaging musical world while building your child's confidence, self-control, and communication skills.

THEATREPLAY

TIME: Mondays 3:30-4:15
AGE: 6-8
INSTRUCTOR: Kristen Underwood

Whether you already have a young actor in the house or this is your child's first exposure to theatre, this active class is sure to please. We'll play games designed to encourage spontaneity, creativity, self-awareness, and teamwork. Since most games are played as a group, this is a great no-pressure experience for shy ones too!
