ArtHaus Performing Arts classes give kids a place to express themselves through body, voice, and imagination.

BEGINNING BALLET

AGE: 5-6 (K-1st grade)
DATE: February 25-May 5 (10 weeks, no class April 7)
TIME: Saturdays, 9:15-10am
INSTRUCTOR: Amanda Moran
COST: $90
LOCATION: ArtHaus

Twirl, leap, and glide! Learning the basic movements of ballet, dancers practice moving gracefully and confidently in a creative environment with music and ballet stories. This class prepares young bodies to move in the style of ballet while encouraging body awareness. (Wear fitted, flexible, and comfortable clothing; dancers may choose traditional black leotard and pink tights, and ballet slippers or bare feet.)

AGE: 7-8 (2nd-3rd grade)

Barre, floor work, and practicing the basic ballet movements in more detail, this class emphasizes creativity within the structured style of ballet. Dancers experience the expressiveness of ballet using music and stories. This class advances confidence, grace, body awareness, and expression through the form of ballet. (Wear fitted, flexible, and comfortable clothing; dancers may choose traditional black leotard and pink tights, and ballet slippers or bare feet.)

UPSTART CROW PRODUCTION: The Merchant of Venice by William Shakespeare

AGE: Grades 7-12
DATE: Rehearsals March 1-April 26, Performances April 27-29
TIME: Rehearsals Tuesdays & Thursdays 3:30-5:30, Wednesdays 3:30-5:00; with some evening hours during production week (Have a conflict with the rehearsal schedule? We may be able to work it out. Contact Kristen at ArtHaus with questions or concerns.)
COST: $125

Dive into the world of Shakespeare's poetry and discover why actors love to perform his plays. Develop and hone acting skills, create a character (maybe two), and work as an ensemble to bring this fantastic play to life. This production is cast through registration rather than audition, to give performers of varying experience levels a chance to participate and learn.
