CREATIVE MOVEMENT II: Imagination in Motion

New and returning students alike are invited to dive into the world of imagination in this creative movement class. Grounded in information about the human skeleton and the space we move in, you’ll find your imagination can take your dancing in new and exciting directions. Your own vibrant, one-of-a-kind personality will take you on a journey of discovery, crafting new dances and ways of moving you didn’t know you had in you!

From song lyrics to Silverstein to Whitman and Hughes, we'll explore the spirit of the poem and learn about embracing writing as a lifelong friend. This is a relaxed and hands-on class, focusing less on assignments, and more on organic expression. Students will be encouraged to give rise to their own voices, focusing on the rewards that tag along with creativity and free expression, without judgment or evaluation. The class will culminate with a poetry reading and each student will take away a bound book of their work and class poems. Just bring a notebook and your imagination…

REHEARSALS:Tuesdays 3:30-5:00pm, Wednesdays 6:30-8:00pm, Saturdays 10am-noon
PERFORMANCE: Saturday, May 15, 2:00pm & 7:00pm, Sunday, May 16, 2:00pm, (family preview Friday May 14, 7:00pm)
DIRECTOR: Kristen Underwood
COST: $125
DETAILS: Previous experience recommended but not required.

This production is cast through registration rather than audition to give performers of varying experience levels a chance to participate and learn. Due to casting requirements, however, not all who register can be accepted.
