Our Youth Visual Art Classes get students actively exploring art through a variety of playful media. We encourage kids to roll up their sleves for hands-on fun!

MINI-MASTERS ART EXPLORATION

AGE: 4-5 years (maximum 10 students)

LITTLE MASTERS ART EXPLORATION

TIME: Saturdays 11:15 am -12:15 pm

Come and explore it all! In one class you can meet Picasso, Matisse, O’Keefe and new emerging artists stretching our definition of art! Each week students will be introduced to new artists, artistic styles, and fine art vocabulary. Children will explore different artist materials and methods including printmaking, paper collage, pastels, paints, and sculpture.

MIXED MEDIA MADNESS
DATE: February 9- March 23 (no class February 16)
AGE: 8-11 years (maximum 10 students)
TIME: Mondays 3:30-4:30 pm

If you like to draw, paint, paste, sculpt, and cut this is the class for you. Contemporary artists choose to blur the lines between 2-D and 3-D and so will we! Come and open your mind to the possibility of endless art-making materials and unique ways to express yourself through artwork.

How do you bring life to a still life? How do artists use color to abstract traditional subject matter? Explore the age-old media of drawing and painting in new ways. From DaVinci to Warhol, you will be inspired by traditional and non-traditional drawing styles. Express yourself with a range of drawing and painting materials including charcoal, pencils, pastels, pen and paint.

Does your child like to play in the dirt? Here is the perfect outlet for your inquisitive child! This course is designed to introduce young children to the properties of clay while allowing them to explore the handbuilding process. Prepare your child to get messy and have a great time!

Are you tired of picking play-dough out of your carpet but think you might be raising the next Michelangelo? Let Little Masters Art Studio help you foster your budding sculptor or potter in a clay-friendly environment! Students will learn different hand-building methods used around the world. The only pre-requisite is enjoying being dirty!

Travel back in time and around the world while exploring clay objects made by various cultures. Visit ancient Mexico and make animal vessels like the Mayan. In Greece create large vases decorated with mythological stories. Where will we travel next? Sign up for this fun class and find out!

PLAYING WITH FIRE: POTTERY AND SCULPTURE EXPLORATION
DATE: April 16 – May 18 (No class April 13)
AGE: 12-15 years (maximum 10 students)

How did ancient cultures learn to take dirt and make it into a bowl that could be washed and used over and over? Explore this question and others as you study ancient pottery and sculpture. Then take your turn learning the process by creating your own clay works to fire in a pit style kiln we build ourselves!
